DOC Vinho de Talha – New Ancient Wines

 

Can you believe that in our era of „modern winemaking” someone would make wine using only a clay pot and a stick? Vinho de Talha is still made in that way in the wild and beautiful Region of Alentejo. These are not “orange” wines created to take advantage of the international fashion for this new category. Instead, Alentejo winemakers have followed the same “recipe” for more than two thousand years, and in the early 21st century production of these wines is steadily increasing.

In my view Grüner Veltliner is a very underrated grape variety that in right conditions can produce one of the best wines in the world.
