Viognier, Domaine de Brescou, 2014

There seem to be a lack of every day drinking Viogniers out there. I struggle to find anything that is interesting and delivers on the price. Domaine de Brescou gives me what I wanted. An easy-drinking Viognier that taste of Viognier grape with loads of juicy peach and apricot in the front. There is a touch of ginger and gentle floral note. The wine has just enough texture going on and the alcohol is kept on a short leash. Do not expect too much complexity or depth, drink it up on its own or with simply grilled fish. You will have a lot of pleasure from it.


Riesling Spatlese Trocken, Weingut Greszta, 2012

The owner and the head winemaker Andrzej Greszta has managed to capture what is the best in Mosel’s dry Rieslings the minerality, floral note, acidity and crunchy fruit. It can not be mistaken for a different grape variety tasting it blind. Classic style, very well balanced, perfect for variety of food. It is drinking well and will keep its fresh fruit for the next 5-8 years. Very well made!


Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, 2004

Deep yellow with gold highlights and very lively bubbles. Fresh nose dominated by ripe apples, citrus and melon followed by white pepper brioche and vanilla. Creamy palate with an citric edge. Very complex with good ageing potential. On its peak in 2008 but can hold easily for another decade.
Perfect with shellfish especially with fresh oysters.
