There is a good reason for the monkey to get on the label. Producers decided to call their Syrah Bobbejaan (South African for baboon) as the baboons visit the vineyards a lot and they love to eat ripe Syrah grapes straight from the vine. I bet the grapes are very good as the wine is delicious. This Syrah shows a lot of ripe border line jammy fruit with plums, blackberries, cherries and cassis followed by sweet spice, smoke, black pepper and tar. Rather big yet balanced with creamy tannins, delicious fruit, lovely spicy and fresh finish. Enjoy it with Braai the famous South African barbecue.
